Topaz Winters’ third poetry collection spans three countries & three generations. In a far-reaching & deftly-woven series of ars poeticas, Winters questions the boundary between the things we inherit & those we owe, stands at the grave of the American dream, & unspools the enormous grace & guilt of being loved. So, Stranger stands as a fixed mark between the shifting histories & futures of being a daughter, being an artist, & being an immigrant. If its reader begins as a stranger, they end as part of a lineage: one both of grief & glory, of distance & arrival.

Topaz Winters is the Singaporean-American author of three poetry collections (most recently So, Stranger, Button Poetry, 2022). She is the founder & editor-in-chief of the independent publishing house & literary journal Half Mystic. Her peer-reviewed scholarly work is published in the Journal of Homosexuality. Her creative work is published in diode, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, The Puritan, Hobart, & has been featured by The Straits Times, American Banker, the National University of Singapore, the Boston Poetry Slam, the Center for Fiction, & the Academy of American Poets. Topaz is 22 years old & studies Creative Writing, Italian, & Visual Art at Princeton University. You can find more of her work at topazwinters.com.

Danie Shokoohi will be moderating & fielding audience questions. Here's her bio: Danie Shokoohi is a Boston-based writer and a 2020 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison MFA program. Her work has been previously published or is forthcoming in The American Journal of Poetry, New Ohio Review, The Puritan, Foglifter, and Lake Effect. In 2022, she was a participant in the Kenyon Review Writer's Workshop.
